Those stickers that are placed on the side of extension ladders are there for your own good. They are not go faster stripes or daft ladder accessories, they are there for idiots they are there as a guide to help all sorts of people and 99% of them contain valuable information that you will need in order to use that said ladder safely, securely and exactly as the ladder manufacturer had intended.Maybe they are just not interesting enough, and that is why people rip them off. Maybe (much like our ladders) you should learn to respect the common sticker, or at the very least enjoy it…
What we are going to look at today has already gone viral and can been seen all over the world. But we for the purposes of this blog we will go right back to the start. So today we are flying over to Seattle,USA to take a look at someone who much like us likes to offer a hand. But this is where it gets strange because a pair of hands is all this artist is offering!!!
Designer Joseph King produced a simple set of vinyl stickers to comment on how every poster design out there looks so much better when someone is holding it. What else looks better that way? The series of pictures that people have sent in his book titled “Poster Cred” and to be fair to both him and the people who have invested in the stickers it really does have some quite funny results!
Joseph King tells us about it in his own words…”Poster Cred” is a commentary on a ubiquitous style of poster presentation often seen in designer portfolios, and the implicit credibility it seems to suggest. Sticker installations explore new subjects as worthy to be presented. The existing project can be viewed at [ http://www.workofwaves.com/poster-cred ] The first run of stickers were printed two years ago (2010) and after much personal investment on printing/shipping costs, a modest number of photos from contributors were submitted. While I’m nearly out of my original sticker run, a torrent of recent interest from people around the world has brought me to Kickstarter in hopes of funding a reprint. And to add to all the fun you can see in the images below he raised over $1,095 for various local charity’s! Great idea, great guy and an absolute laugh. If only all art could make as many people smile like this does.
