There are a few answers to this taken from both the internet (various sources) and our highly skilled sales staff…

1) No! Of course it will break. What you need is an adjustable stand-off accessory. Because we can promise you that guttering can easily break and without a stand-off (see our ladder accessories) it WILL break! We sell ladder stand offs for this very reason!

2) unless it has been put up with closely spaced support clips it will likely break. if you can get a piece of timber and tie it to the ladder to spread the weight along say a 2 foot length you will be o.k. of course if you can place the ladder just under and still do the job, so much the better. Please take care and look out your life insurance for the family first.

3) Put the ladder up to it not on it and drop a piece of 4 x 2 timber into it. That will stop any deformation. The gutter may not be broken by a ladder but the brackets are likely to be damaged. Or you could buy a ‘stand off ‘ bracket.

4) I wouldn’t chance it, it’ll probably break.

Do you need some help or advice about buying or choosing the right ladder for the job?
