Are Telescopic Ladders As Safe As Normal Extension Ladders?

Q1) Are Telescopic Ladders As Safe As Normal Extension Ladders?

A1) Telescopic ladders are a unique device that allows the ladder to expand for up to 12 1/2 feet or be broken down to 30 inches. Their design also allows them to be folded into various shapes to help the user get to usually out-of-the-way places but still be small enough to easily carry them when folded down. While this design may leave the rigidness of the ladder in doubt, all our telescopic ladders have passed every safety test they have gone through. If you feel unsafe on a telescopic ladder you should not be up it. To keep safe you must have some trust in what the ladder can do and we have heard many, many stories of people who have brought fake copies of our own Xtend & Climb Pro’s and have had them fail to open and even worst start to fold-up when they have been on them!

Please note here that we are NOT saying that all telescopic ladders other than the Xtend & Climb Pro’s are bad because we are not saying that at all. What we are saying is that unless you buy them from a trusted store/site then you may well be in for a nasty surprise. But doesn’t that go with everything in life?

The risks

Because telescopic ladders have the ability to contort to a wide variety of shapes, they clearly do not have the same amount of durability and support that a regular set of one-way extension ladders would have. Therefore, if your feel even slightly unsafe on a telescopic ladder then choose a set of extension ladders instead.

So is it still right for me?

For ordinary household maintenance and jobs, an extension ladder is usually enough to get the job done. However, if you have a job that requires a larger amount of ladder mobility, then with the proper precautions, the telescopic ladders are just as safe. When using either type of these ladders, it’s important to have a person at the bottom of the ladder if you can to support it properly.
