Some people find them beautiful, some people find them practical. And back in its day inside/outside or castles it was considered a battle advantage. We are of course talking about spiral staircases. Given the right background or location these can be a photographer’s paradise. And in fact there are absolutely millions of spiral staircases out there that have been photographed more times than some celebrities have! But today we are looking at what might be the world’s biggest spiral staircase.
Today we are talking a little trip over to Iraq. Don’t worry we are going to the north of the county that is wildly considered to still be quite safe and an absolutely amazing place to visit.
We are here to visit the great Mosque of Samarra. This amazing Mosque is built on a truly amazing spiral mound. It’s 52 meters high and 33 meters wide and was commissioned in 848 and completed in 851 by the Abbasid caliph Al-Mutawakkil who reigned (in Samarra) from 847 until 861. And it still stands today towering high above the Tigris Valley
While our spiral staircases do indeed come in kit form it’s fairly easy to set up. We not only offer advice in the form of PDF’s and videos but we are also on the phones to help you put it up so it’s safe and secure. And its places like this Mosque that need to be protected and to receive that same helping hand to make sure it survives for future generations to see. Because it doesn’t matter what religion, race or colour of your skin, if you were looking up at this place we here at ladders-online think that it would be very hard indeed not to be impressed.
So who is up for trying to build one of these down the local beach?!?
